I don’t feel like I’m growing with my church anymore.
It’s a bunch of little things over the course of the last few years (more so this last year, really) that has me wondering why I still go. Socialize? Not even that, really. I see people, say hi, hug, when we worship, hear a message, and depart (unless we’re going out to lunch, which, even then, a lot of us get separated for different destinations). I’m not one to go to church just to see people, although, at times, I definitely have and can understand why people choose church as their social grounds (especially when meeting someone new). Personally, I don’t believe it’s wrong to expect to see or meet people while at church–in fact, I recommend it as a good place to start when wanting to make new friends, but it really shouldn’t be the priority of going, and I feel like it’s become just that for me.
So I’ve decided to try somewhere new. There are a few local churches that I can try, and they are MUCH CLOSER to home than Access (that’s the name of my church, btw). We’ll see how it pans out. Today (Sunday), I’m staying home to help install a new window unit air conditioner, as mine breathed its last breath of cool air a few days ago. Sigh. In the middle of a Florida summer. Awesome.
In other news, I received the most amazing care package heart package from Hawkeye a few days ago, and now, because of our correspondence and our adventures, I’m taking up the noble art of scrapbooking.
Before I continue, here are photos of the contents of Hawkeye’s heart package (and, you guessed it, these photos are going in the scrapbook! I have to start somehow and somewhere):
Back to scrapbooking: I nearly bought a Martha Stewart starter kit at Walmart but found much cheaper alternatives. I gotta hand it to Martha, though–for your money, she really does make it as easy as possible.
So we’ll see! The scrapbook will certainly start with our spygirl stuff, but I look forward to scrapbooking other adventures like HARRY POTTER!!! I have so many Harry Potter pictures, movie tickets, random things, etc, that I really must organize into a book.
Not to mention, Emily, our Paramore and No Doubt adventure, which became one of the best nights of my life!
This new hobby really suits me, I think. I’m contemplating, though, purchasing Scrapbooking for Dummies to help me with the process. Perhaps it isn’t that difficult. I’ll try a page to start and see where I end up.

A Hemingway candle?!? Now that’s pretty awesome!
Good luck on your search for a new church and on your scrapbooking adventures!

Just so you know, there is a Scrapbooking store here in Winter Haven. It’s right across from the Lowe’s and whatnot… So if you’re in town, you might want to check it out if you’re serious about it. You sure can drop a lot of money there… but… it’s terrific if you’re looking for a huge place to pick everything up at. Much more of a selection compared to Walmart or Target (my fav!). Anyhow. Have fun, Lady! Miss you!

I’m famous!
Re: picture of earring…if it hangs crooked, it may need to be adjusted slightly due to the shipping process. If you can’t get it straight, I’ll fix it while I’m there!
About the church thing…I totally feel you. It’s TERRIBLY hard to find a church with solid theology and some actual depth these days. I can no longer tolerate my home church (for numerous reasons) and with my parents’ blessing have been searching for an alternative. Not much fun…
Miss you!
